Arcadia National Park
If Arcadia happens to be one of the smallest of the National Parks, at the same time it is at the same time perhaps the best place to begin your National Park adventures. Within its boundaries are mountains, lakes, streams, wetlands, forests, meadows, coastlines and a wide diversity of plants and animals. Cadillac Mountain is the highest peak along the entire Atlantic Coast of the United States. Being there at sunrise you are one of the first in the United States to catch a glimpse of Father Sun for the day. An added gift on this journey was that I was travelling with my neighbor and friend Rick. During the week while I was out with the group taking pictures, he was hiking, climbing mountains, Kayaking among the inlets and Islands. At days ends, we meet up having dinner and comparing notes on that day’s adventures. Fall is a beautiful time to visit Arcadia. Generally, the peak color time is around the 1st & 2nd week of October, in addition at this time, the massive crowds of summer cruise ships has significantly diminished. In my Photo Journey North in 2019, I had made it a point to revisit Arcadia for a second time and it was liked being welcomed by an old friend – just perfect.
