My Virtural Garden
My very first photo trip was back in 2002. The prime motivating factor was the fact that the lead photographer was John Shaw, perhaps one of the premier Landscape/Nature photographers of our time. One day, while walking to a shooting location, John had shared some advice. He said one of the greatest miscues of those who are focused on the grand landscape, is that they often fail to “Look Down”. Here lies microcosm of beauty, there for the “taking”, but often lost. Over the years John’s comments have continually resonated and unwrapped for me a wealth of photographic possibilities. One of the local treasures, within an hour of home, is Longwood Gardens located in Kennett Sq. Penna. Here on over 1000 acres are a variety of outdoor gardens, ranging from formal to naturalistic in their landscape design, along with 20 indoor gardens within heated greenhouses. Throughout the year Longwood transforms its gardens along with the seasons, providing an endless diversity of photographic possibilities.
